This summery weekend finally put an end to what felt like an eternity of wearing over sized jumpers and winter boots. I don't really need much of an excuse to get into a floaty dress and sandals but if I had of needed one, the last week or so was it.
Now I kind of lost my fashion mojo this winter. I don't know if it was the weather or my mood but I just didn't feel like being bold. I bought this dress a few months back when the spring clothing first hit the highstreet shops and although I loved it, I didn't think I'd actually be confident enough to wear it. Since the weather has brightened up though I'm feeling back to my normal self and I'll be honest, I'm a little bit obsessed with the shirt dress trend. So much so I've been trawling the usual shopping sites trying to find some more. This one is actually from Primark and was a bargain at no more than £20. The bell sleeve detail is so on trend at the moment and the flower print at the top just adds that little bit of colour.
When it comes to styling these kinds of dresses, I usually opt for some comfy sandals. I didn't photograph my shoes in this shoot (mainly because I was in a very unglamorous, muddy field #bloggerlifeproblems) but I opted for some black gladiator sandals that tied up round my leg, no higher than the bottom of my calf. There's a little bit of black in the detailing at the top so I figured it would pull the outfit together nicely.
If you're looking to be a little more conservative with the shirt dress trend then I'd recommend buying something simpler like this gorgeous kahki dress from Pretty Little Thing. Teamed with some over the knee boots (because hey, we all know that this flash summer we've had this weekend won't last and the boots will be back out next week) and a statement necklace, you've got yourself the perfect "day to night" outfit. If the blue and white striped thing is more you then I'm loving this blue pinstripe wrap around dress, again from Pretty Little Thing. Paired with some cute little sandals or wedges you can't go wrong.
Has anyone else got any spring to summer trends they've been loving?
