I know summer is starting to come to an end but I'm still hanging onto it with everything I've got. I'm more of an Autumn girl really but I have actually really loved the hot weather we've had over the past few months and I'm going to be quite sad when it's over :(
This post is #2 of three posts I'll be publishing on my favourite summer makeup. First up we had LIPS and now we've moved onto FACE.
This summer has been a bit of an eye opener for me when it comes to the products I use on my face, especially when it comes to the base. I don't know what happened but my skin was so much more oily this summer than it's ever been before. Or maybe I just noticed it more? I'm not sure but whatever the reason, I just had to do something about it. I switched things up pretty seriously and although it meant spending a bit more cash, it was certainly worth it. I really don't think you can scrimp on base products such as foundations, moisturisers and primers and I can honestly say I've learnt that the hard way. You wouldn't believe the bag of stuff I've got that I'm planning on giving away/ throwing out and it's all full of cheap products that I was hoping would work but just failed to perform. With the amount of money I spent on all that cheap stuff, I could've bought one, good quality product that actually worked. But hey, you live and you learn eh?
So here they are my top 5 summer makeup purchases for the perfect mattified look:
Aaaannnd breath! That's a mouthful and a half right?!
I actually don't know what I would've done without this moisturiser this summer. I'm not saying that it completely eradicated shine and combated oil, but it certainly helped. It's still a hydrating moisturiser which is something us combination/ oily faced people sometimes have to sacrifice. Plus it definitely gave me a matte based ready for my makeup.
This was the first BB cream I ever bought and nothing I've purchased since has compared. It's so light and just blends in perfectly. During summer, the last thing you want to be doing is caking the heavy makeup on so I think a BB cream is definitely the way to go. You can still get coverage from a decent cover up so for those of you who like heavy coverage I say give it a try!
I don't think there's anyone who hasn't heard of this concealer so I won't go on about it too much. All you need to know is it's fricking amazing and has unbelievable coverage; perfect combined with BB cream!
I was sent this mineral foundation a few months ago but at the time I'd just come back from my holiday and my tan had changed my skin tone. Since my tan has now worn off I've been able to give it a try and I can honestly say I love it! I use my Eco Tools Kabuki brush to apply the powder and it certainly keeps my skin matte for a good 5 hours. I use the BB cream & cover up as a base and then go over with this just to ensure everything is sealed in properly. It might sound like a lot of makeup but this powder is so light it doesn't feel heavy.
I was searching for what felt like forever for a decent non shimmery bronzer and then I stumbled across this bad boy. The range has some great natural shades and there's no shimmery flecks in any of them. I've been applying this with my Eco Tools Bronzer Brush which I find provides me with the perfect level of coverage.
If you have a summer makeup product that you can't live without then I'd love to hear about it!
